Reset your mailbox or SMTP relay password
Reset your mailbox or SMTP relay password
Your mailbox/SMTP password is set automatically the first time the account is created and only ever shown once. If you've lost it, you don't need to open a ticket โ you can reset it yourself.
Where to reset it
Open your mailbox or SMTP relay service from Services. Under Extension Tools, click Reset password. Confirm, and a new password is generated immediately and shown on the page once โ copy it right away, as it won't be shown again after you leave or refresh the page.
This changes the login everywhere it's used
One mailbox account's password is shared across everywhere you use it โ webmail, IMAP/POP3 mail apps, and SMTP sending. Resetting it means you'll need to update the password in every mail client or app currently configured with the old one (phone mail app, Outlook/Thunderbird, your website's SMTP config, etc.).
If you only need SMTP sending to work again
The same reset covers SMTP-relay-only accounts too โ the process is identical, you just won't see the IMAP/POP3/webmail fields since those aren't part of an SMTP-relay plan.
Still can't log in after resetting?
Double check you're using the full email address as the username (not just the part before the @), and that you've updated the password everywhere it was saved โ a mail client with a cached old password will keep failing until you update it there too.
