How RepublicNodes Handles DDoS Protection Across Every Plan
What DDoS protection actually means at the infrastructure level, and why it comes standard instead of being an upsell.
How RepublicNodes Handles DDoS Protection
Public Minecraft servers, Discord bots, and small websites are common, low-effort DDoS targets โ often from nothing more than another player who lost a match. Protection against this shouldn't be something you have to remember to add to your cart.
What "DDoS Protection" Actually Means
At the network level, it means traffic is filtered for attack patterns before it reaches your actual server, so a flood of junk packets never gets the chance to saturate your VM's or game server's own connection. Without this, even a modest attack can take a server fully offline regardless of how powerful the hardware behind it is.
Why It's Standard, Not an Add-on
Treating DDoS mitigation as a premium upsell means the customers who need it most โ small, public-facing communities who are the easiest and most common targets โ are the ones least likely to have paid for it. That's backwards. Always-on network-level filtering is part of the base infrastructure for RepublicNodes services, not a checkbox at checkout.
What You Can Still Do On Your Side
Infrastructure-level protection handles volumetric network attacks, but you're still the first line of defense against application-level abuse:
- Rate-limit commands on public Discord/Telegram/WhatsApp bots
- Keep your game server's whitelist or anti-cheat plugins current
- Don't expose admin panels or RCON ports publicly if you don't need to
If You Think You're Under Attack
Open a support ticket immediately rather than waiting it out โ our team can confirm what's actually happening at the network level and whether additional mitigation needs to be applied, instead of you guessing from inside a server that's already struggling.
See our current hosting plans โ DDoS protection is included, not extra.
